today, the day after our reception, i witnessed an act of beauty far beyond what i have ever seen. my bride, jamie, took her bridal bouquet and layed it upon her late grandfathers headstone.

we had felt like he was the one thing that was missing from our wedding festivities and as she layed those flowers down, it made us feel like he was there with us all along.

as the man who now is responsible for loving and caring for his granddaughter, i truely feel honored to have have known him and for him to have had the chance to meet that man who will take care of his little girl for ever.

well, the vacation is almost over, but we have experienced some amazing things that we'll never forget. so goodbye hawaii, we'll be back next summer

So we made it to the north shore of Oahu !!! We are at Turtle Bay. It is beautiful and we are enjoying ourselves. We did a little site seeing today and visited Sandys (a beach that toby has been reading about and watching videos of for years. the waves break in less than a foot of water.) We also drove thru waikiki and then went to find the Bail Bonds Ofice of the infamous Dog the Bounty Hunter. We are relaxing and enjoying life. here are a few pics.....oh yeah, since we had prepaid for a jeep but we didnt want one anymore, they let us upgrade to a hummer h3 for cheap. It is fun and drives like a tank !!!! haha !!!

hello los angeles!!!!! maui is fantastic, we got settled right away and can't believe we are finally doing this!!!! i just want to say that i am grateful for my family and for toby's family who have been so supportive and helpful in getting this planned. a year in the works and it it four days away.

toby, i love you for your thoughtfulness, your big heart, and your silly jokes. i am honored that you would choose me to spend your life with. the adventure begins...........j

final detail scramble

well...less than two weeks and we are on the plane. i had a dream last night that we got married and i was talking with toby after the whole thing and confessed i couldn't remember a single part of the ceremony. it was kinda bizarre, but i imagine that things will get a little blurry.

we are busy finalizing tours and dinners and little things that will make less work for us in hawaii. that is our goal anyway, to have most things ordered or made or in someone's elses hands before we get there so the few days before will not be a panic.

happy july first everyone!!!

so toby started packing and got out my suitcase too. i'm ignoring the hint. there's time. we have all our shopping done, rings are secure, airline tickets are in our possession, the dress and suit are hanging and ready to go in our new garment bag. i suppose the only loose ends are choosing the music, making a program, scheduling the snorkeling trip, figuring out the place setting for the hawaii reception, ahhh....maybe we have a little work to do.....but, it is almost hawaii time. not only are we getting married, we are going on an amazing family vacation. thanks to everyone who is helping make our dreams come true.

it is sinking in

the first wedding present showed up in the mail early last week. as i opened the signature green william sonoma packaging, i paused and looked at toby, thinking, once this wrapping comes off, we can't turn back. funny. we had just bought the rings and we have our ceremony clothes, but something about the first gift....it meant that someone else had become involved.

on this past saturday i sat like a princess surrounded by my family and opened so many amazing gifts. it is weird because they were things i registered for, but some were dream items. i knew that i was loved before the bridal shower and it doesn't really take a gift to state that, but it was the culmination of the gifts, the crafts, the games, the chatter...all of it made me so happy and understand again how lucky i am to have a great family and to be joining another great family.

so thanks toby's mom, aunt donna, kelley, and gram. i had a great time and i will never forget it.

ps. thanks chelle for the ribbon bouquet. you did a great job.

discovering the bridezilla in all of us??

the wedding is just about one month away. so far, everything has been going well, no breakdowns, no hair-pulling, nothing but calm deliberations surrounding all major decisions. until yesterday that is.

here is what happened:

toby wants to put together a little book containing daily activities and info for everyone in hawaii and we wanted to type out a duties list for our attendants. we went to the local paper shop and proceeded to spend a good amount of time choosing themed paper for the booklet. then i started to think about how much it would all cost. so we put it back because i had made this face toby knows how to interpret. we decided to go with colored paper, half the price, and started counting all the sheets out again. then i started having problems with the colors. it was looking like an easter basket. so i made the face. we put the paper back again. then we paid for what toby managed to hang on with out looking in my direction anymore. i didn't think anything of it until we were out in the sunshine once more. then it hit me. i was having a mini-bridezilla moment. my first one! i hope that anymore i suffer from will also be silly, insignificant things like paper color in a throw-away itinerary.

farmer's tans

i don't want to freak anyone out but there are only 48 days left until the wedding? can that be right???? personally, i have my dress, my shoes, and as of today, the best man has my ring so i'm good. i only have one worry left. i have a wicked sandal tan and my belly is the color of snow. while i can hide the belly under my one piece, i thought i'd take this time to encourage everyone to put on some spf 15 and ease on out into the sun. roll up those sleeves, roll down those socks....basically do a farmer's tan inspection and assess the damage. there still is time. the sun is spending more hours with us daily and also, science has made tremendous advances in self-tanners, but please, be careful. orange streaked people may be banned from the photos. see you all soon!

LA reception date set!

today toby and his mom and I planned out the family celebration reception here in LA. the offical date is set: saturday, august 26th. we haven't settled the exact time yet, but it will be an evening event. we still have a ton of details to work out, but mark your calendars...it will be here before we know it.

wedding plans making progress

today we found toby's suit. it is a dark suit with blue pin stripes, very subtle, but amazing and a light blue tie. we've decided the attendants will be wearing black suits, white shirts, and a blue tie. next we decided on toby's ring and put it on hold. he's got something special planned for me. while we were suit shopping i found an outfit to wear to my stepsisters wedding in two weeks. it was a very productive day. then as we were heading to another store to grab some shoes for me the phone rang and my wedding dress came in!!!!!

hopefully within the next two weeks we'll have all the details sorted out and then the countdown begins!!!!

so for everyone wondering, the dress for the wedding should be dressy, but comfortable. guys don't have to wear jackets. it willbe in the afternoon, between 4-6, we haven't nailed down the exact time yet because we are checking the sunset times. so it will be warm, but hopefully a nice breeze.

check back here often, we'll be updating more frequently now that we are within eight weeks!! wow.....eight weeks!!!!

jamie and i saw a demo dvd of a company that films and edits wedding videos. it was awesome !!! so i emailed the company only to find out that they are not available the day we need them. :-( i responded to the email and let them know how sad we were and again how impressed i was with their work. they responded that they will try to reschedule their other event to be able to cover ours.

so we are in limbo on the video but everything else is looking great. we are putting ourselves into penny pinching mode now that we have seen some of the prices for everything. WOW !!! isnt the brides father supposed to pick up the tab. haha !!! just kidding beach (ocean) !!! i think i may just sell a kidney on ebay or something. whatever works, right? haha !!
